The Wheels on the Bus go to School

Happy Bus Riders

Jamaica has no school bus system and the need for children to have a safe inexpensive way to get to school became apparent to the CCM Board.   This lead to CCM partnering with Braeton Church of Christ in a bus ministry. A fifteen passenger van was purchased with a combination of CCM donations and Church donations. Also, CCM paid $1000 for a metal cage (called a grid) in which the van was housed for security purposes.  The van is used primarily to transport children who attend that Church to and from school. It has also been very used for youth group outings and attending youth functions at other churches in the area. From time to time it has been used to help the elderly get to doctor’s appointments. CCM supplies $400 each month for the payment of a driver and gas for the van. The church is responsible for keeping the insurance in effect and normal maintenance on the van. From time to time CCM has had to help with the cost of major repairs. In January of 2010, the original van was sold and replaced with a newer more reliable one. CCM supplemented the new purchase with a donation of $ 2,000.   Since this project began in December 2006, many people have been blessed with safe transportation.  The pictures below are of the original "bus" as well as the replacement bus and the grid where it is parked.
