For education to fulfill its role as a catalyst for equity, we must begin with early childhood interventions that help mitigate the disadvantages faced by children born into poor and non-literate environments. For these children, quailty and equitable education must continue through elementary and High School to ensure a pathway out of deprivation.

Children are disproportionately affected by shocks and stresses related to climate change and natural disasters. According to UNICEF more than half a billion children live in zones of extremely high flood occurrence. Nearly 160 million live in areas of hifh or extremely high drought severity. Many of these are in the world’s poorest countries, which have the least capacity and fewest resources to manage such risks.

COTC Dominica provides assistance to unemployed or low-income head of households where there are children under the age of 18 years. These head of house holders with limited financial resources must be ineligible to do business with traditional financial institutions.
Assistance is given to head of house holds to start and or maintain a business project which provides additional income for the family and allows the children within that household to experience an improved living environment.
